2013 Report from Mission Team
The mission team statement is : “To broaden the missional life of our church, both locally and globally, through increased awareness, education and service opportunities that connect with the work of God in the world.” . Here is a list of the many ways our church has ‘done missions’ in 2013: Provided school supplies to Mineral Springs Elementary School for teachers and students Provided items to the Mineral Springs Elementary Store for the children to shop with points they had earned for academic success and good behavior Donated clothing and food to the Shalom project Donated clothing to Mineral Springs clothes closet Participated in the Backpack program at Mineral Springs Elementary School to provide food during the weekend for children that would have none Lent emphasis of collecting quarters for Bethseda Center Collected books from children at VBS and donated them to Mineral Springs Elementary School Donated items to Crisis Control throughout the year Provided a teacher appreciation breakfast to the teachers at Mineral Springs Elementary School Contributed a special donation of $536 to the building fund for Samaritan Ministry Provided over 60 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child Raised $3,485 for the Crop Walk and had 17 walkers representing our church Provided 3 Christmas gifts each for 15 children with our Angel Christmas Tree through the Salvation Army Supported the Salvation Kettle Campaign for one Saturday with 10 different time slots filled by individuals, families, and couples to raise $535.85 Gave to the Samaritan Ministries Penny Campaign which is supported and promoted by The New Life Class Supported Mineral Springs Elementary School with Education Box Top Labels and Harris Teeter Together in Education program (link VIC card to school) Distributed Christmas toys for the Salvation Army by members who volunteered to assist In addition to contributions to our Mission Partners, we contributed $2000 to Ronella and Skyler Daniel for their work in Romania, $1000 to Kim and Marc Wyatt for their mission work in US, and $1000 to Sam and Melody Harrell for work in Africa Our Mission Team thanks each of you so much for your generous support in our mission endeavors. - Carol Doss, Mission Team Leader
2012 Report from Mission Team Submitted by Carol Doss The mission team statement is: “To broaden the missional life of our church, both locally and globally, through increased awareness, education and service opportunities that connect with the work of God in the world.” I have been compiling from many of you information regarding mission work done during 2012 so I could report to the congregation the many different types of missions the members of Peace Haven Baptist Church have done. Missions encompass much more than just the monetary support that we have provided to our mission partners during the year. What better way can we ‘serve’ as stated in our church mission statement than to respond to opportunities to help those in need. Here is a list of the many ways our church has ‘done missions’ in 2012:
Participated with the Baptist Build of a Habitat House - partnering with North Winston Baptist Church we provided volunteer labor and food for those that were working on the project
Provided supplies to Mineral Springs Elementary School
Provided items to the Mineral Springs Elementary Store for the children to shop with points they had earned for academic success and good behavior
Contributed to Brookridge Retirement Home special offering in February
Donated clothing and food to the Shalom project throughout the year
Responded to a request from an elderly Peace Haven neighbor to assist in raking her yard
Participated in the Backpack program at Mineral Springs Elementary School to provide food during the weekend for children
Collected books from children at VBS and donated them to El Buen Pastor
Donated items to Crisis Control throughout the year
Provided over 60 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child
Raised $4,235 for the Crop Walk and had 28 walkers representing our church
Increased our number of volunteers to Samaritan Ministries Soup Kitchen and the Shalom ProjectIncreased our number of volunteers to Samaritan Ministries Soup Kitchen and the Shalom Project with our special emphasis datesProvided Christmas gifts for 16 children with our Angel Christmas Tree through the Salvation Army
