Cooperation and Collaboration are important values for Peace Haven Baptist Church. We believe that Jesus calls us to labor with and alongside others in the work of the Kingdom of God. The mission of Peace Haven Baptist is expressed and extended through partnerships. Our identity and ministry partners are listed below. Click on their name to go to their website for more information. Each ministry or community organization is included in our church budget. We have a booklet that gives a better look at our partners. Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF)
Made up of individuals and approximately 1,900 affiliated churches, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship is an organization that serves a larger renewal movement among Baptists. We are committed to discovering and providing resources that will empower churches to fulfill their mission in their particular context and will equip individuals to fulfill their calling under the Lordship of Christ.
Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina (CBFNC)
We value fellowship and the many ways it brings us together. By Serving Others we are actively engaged in ministries around the state, nation and world. By Church Planting we launch new churches, Anglo and ethnic, to meet the needs of "those not here yet." Mission Churches - We encourage and equip local churches to engage in God's mission in their communities and wherever they feel called. Global Missions - We support and participate in missions outside N.C., including the mission efforts of the larger CBF movement. NC Missions Initiative – We focus efforts on pockets of intense poverty exist all across North Carolina.
Pilot Mountain Baptist Association (PMBA)
Helping churches reach their full Kingdom potential. Networking with churches to make a difference where we live. Serving churches since 1885. The PMBA is a local association of Baptist churches that partner in local ministries/missions. Today 90 congregations make up the Pilot Mountain Baptist Association. We strive to be...Church focused, Missional, Catalytic, Strategic, & Relational.
Bethesda Center for the Homeless
We are a 501 (c)3 non-profit agency serving the homeless through a day shelter and emergency night shelter. Bethesda is the community’s largest provider of emergency shelter for homeless men and women, housing more than 600 people last year. It also is the area’s only day shelter, touching over 750 lives in the last year! The Bethesda Center is an entry point back into the community for homeless men and women through its supportive services which include: Case management, Spiritual development, and referral access To: Housing, Job Training, Adult Education, Mental Health Care and Physical Health Care.
Communities Helping All Neighbors Gain Empowerment (CHANGE)
CHANGE is a grass-roots organization in Winston-Salem, NC formed in the early 2000’s by a group of religious leaders. We are a network of more than 45 congregations, neighborhood associations and other organizations that seeks to provide space for the residents of Forsyth County to participate in our democracy and public life. Members work together to evaluate, advocate for and serve the needs of our city which in turn builds a better community for all residents. CHANGE is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that is nonpartisan, interfaith, multi-racial and multi-ethnic. We come from all economic backgrounds and a diversity of locations within Forsyth County.
The Children’s Center
The Children's Center for the Physically Disabled currently serves over 100 children between the ages of birth and eleven who have handicapping conditions that are primarily of a physical nature. These disabilities include: cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, Rett's syndrome, traumatic brain injury, and a number of other unusual genetic disorders. The focus on physical disability creates a unique environment at The Children's Center. Many of our students have average to above average intellectual functioning. With appropriate interventions, they can be academically successful and productively employed. The Children's Center is funded by the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, The United Way, private foundations, and contributions from many individual supporters. Given this support, we demonstrate a high level of stewardship as we deliver quality services.
Crisis Control Ministry
Crisis Control Ministry is a Christian-based ministry whose mission is to assist people in crisis to meet essential life needs and to become self-sufficient. Clients turn to Crisis Control to receive assistance in their time of financial emergency. People come to Crisis Control when extreme circumstances are challenging them to choose between such basic life necessities as paying their rent, buying groceries or filling their prescription medications. IMMEDIATE NEED! Due to record numbers of clients, our food pantry shelves are nearly empty! The only items we have plenty of are canned green beans, corn, and peas as well as breakfast cereal. Please consider organizing a food drive at your church, place of work, neighborhood, or civic organization.
The Enrichment Center
Nationally acclaimed for its work in developing artistic talent and careers in the arts for adults with disabilities, The Enrichment Center is just one of a few organization in the country that incorporates all of the arts- dance and drama, photography, music, poetry and visual arts. We provide an avenue into the community for our artists, not as "artists with disabilities," but as creative, talented individuals. Under the guidance of professional artists, our students earn money through the sale of visual art, and fees for performances and recordings. One way we assist the students at The Enrichment Center is to enhance Daily Living Skills. Students at The Enrichment Center can select from a variety of classes offering instruction in computer skills, basic math, independent living, job readiness, self-advocacy, exercise, social health, meal preparation, and much more. Students also have the opportunity to perform meaningful volunteer work and learn valuable vocational skills in a variety of community settings.
Family Services: Domestic Violence Shelter
Founded in 1905, Family Services, Inc. is a private non-profit agency that helps thousands of families annually in Forsyth and surrounding counties. Their goal is to help a family or individual find the strength and direction to stop the hurt, and together, arrive at a better, more satisfying life. For over 25 years, we have been helping women, children and men who are victims of sexual assault or domestic violence. We offer comprehensive response and advocacy to victims through a variety of programs and services – a safe and secure shelter, counseling and education services, Vantage Point Child Advocacy Center, Domestic Violence Community Council, and Abuser Intervention Services. Abused women and their children are provided peace, empathy, and emotional support after escaping a dangerous home situation.
Forsyth Jail & Prison Ministries
The Forsyth Jail and Prison Ministries is a community funded ministry which provides Christian Ministry, counseling, and re-entry guidance to the incarcerated in our area. Our congregation includes the 1150 men, women, and children in the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center, the Forsyth Correctional Center, and the Youth Detention Center, all located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Habitat for Humanity
Rooted in Christian principles, Habitat brings together community partners and volunteers from all faiths to help qualified Partner Families purchase quality affordable homes and become successful homeowners. Habitat is founded on the deep belief that everyone should have a simple, decent, affordable place to live in dignity and safety. This ministry is based on the conviction that in order to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ we must reflect that love in our own lives by loving and caring for each person. Habitat for Humanity is about tearing down walls and building bridges. It is about bringing hope and transforming lives. Habitat provides a tangible opportunity to become the hands and feet of God on earth. By sharing resources with those in need, Habitat volunteers and supporters have made decent, affordable housing a reality for more than 200,000 families worldwide.
International Campus Ministries of the Triad
The International Campus Fellowship is a Christian sponsored organization which seeks to provide opportunities for International students to learn about and experience friendships with Americans in the Triad, as well as with other Internationals! Working in cooperation with each campus’ International Advisors, assistance is offered in helping students to make adjustments to U.S. culture, with on-going & special events planned throughout the year.
New Baptist Covenant
The New Baptist Covenant is an informal alliance of more than 30 racially, geographically, and theologically diverse Baptist organizations from throughout North America that claim more than 20 million members. Representatives of these Baptist organizations have reaffirmed traditional Baptist values, including sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and its implications for public and private morality, as well as their obligations as Christians to fulfill the biblical mandate to promote peace with justice, to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, care for the sick and the marginalized, and promote religious liberty and respect for religious diversity.
Mineral Springs Elementary School
Peace Haven Baptist Church has a church-school partnership with Mineral Springs Elementary and we are committed to helping them achieve their mission. Mineral Springs was a recent recipient of a large educational grant and named a Renzulli Academy of Arts and Technology. We are proud to be a community partner. Ministry opportunities at Mineral Springs Elementary include but are not limited too: Assisting an individual child, Working with a group of children, Helping older students and Volunteering in the media center.
Missionary Family Counseling Services
We provide pastoral counseling and support to adults, adolescents, and family members with a particular focus on the counseling and support of missionaries, clergy, and their family members of all denominations. MFCS’s goal is to help each person find a satisfactory personal and cultural identity, but help with a variety of issues including loss and grief, depression, childhood abuse, poor health, alcohol/drug abuse, personality disorders, marital/family problems, emotional isolation, insecurity, low self-esteem, conflicting values and questions about religious beliefs.
Prodigals Community
Recovery Ministries for Drug-free Living whose core values are: Faithfulness, Respect, Christian Love, Honesty, Responsibility Within a Christian Community, we help individuals and families whose lives are affected by drug and alcohol abuse. We provide residential programs to help addicts and alcoholics live responsible and drug-free lives. We provide outreach ministries of education and support to families of addicts and alcoholics.
Salvation Army WS/Women & Families Shelter
The Salvation Army offers programs designed to elevate the moral, physical, spiritual, and social aspects of an individual's life. We provide help to those who need it most, regardless of color, creed, religion or orientation. But every hungry soul fed, every homeless soul sheltered and every needy child comforted is done so because of a conviction to take the love of Jesus to "the least of these."
Samaritan Ministries
"I was hungry and you gave me something to eat. . . I was a stranger and you invited me in. . ." Matthew 25:35. An interdenominational Christian ministry providing hope and healing by providing hot nutritional meal, year-round night shelter for homeless men, companionship with the hungry and homeless through Christian love and service.
Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN)
A variety of services are available in Forsyth, Stokes, Surry, Yadkin & Alamance counties. Although some programs have a fee for service, the majority of the services are free to the community. Volunteers are intensively used whether for their ability to give individualized care because of the importance of involving the community in the prevention of child abuse. There are Prevention Programs as well as Treatment Programs for all ages and circumstances.
Senior Services (Meals on Wheels)
Meals-on-Wheels of Senior Services, Inc. operates two nutrition programs to assist the homebound elderly in Forsyth County. Volunteers have delivered more than 2.5 million meals to the elderly since the program began in 1962. It is the oldest home-delivered meal program in the Southeast. This service helps provide necessary nutrition and social contact for the elderly, enabling them to remain in their homes. Our Grocery Program addresses some of the nutritional needs of the homebound elderly while they are waiting to receive a hot lunch meal. Volunteers for The Hot Meal Program come from all walks of life and include employees of major corporations, businesses, churches, civic groups, students and retirees
