                           SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY
                  FOR COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
                          Let’s make a difference,
                          one student at a time.

“Graduate. It pays.” is an association of organizations and individuals that share a commitment to increasing the     WS/FCS graduation rate. Did you know that 800 high school students drop out of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools each year?  These students are more likely to be unemployed, on public assistance, in poor health and incarcerated.  The decision to drop out becomes a personal tragedy.  Our community bears a significant cost, as well, and cannot attract the companies that will bring new jobs and economic growth.  Together we can stop the next 800 students from dropping out.  Our experience shows that 9 out of 10 students matched with a caring adult advance to the next grade and graduate.

As Caring Adults you commit to meet with your student 1 hour a week during the school day for 1 year beginning in October. We cannot overemphasize the importance of your commitment.  You can change the life of one student by becoming a Caring Adult to a 9th or 12th grader.  You will be asked to complete an online volunteer registration form, be screened at Level 2 for the school system and undergo training.  Professional support will be available to you throughout the entire process. For more information or to register today as a Caring Adult please call  336.728.9231 or 336.724.7993 ext. 18 or go to www.graduateitpays.org and select “I want to Volunteer”.  Opportunities are also available to volunteer with younger students if that’s what you prefer.

Your showing up tells your student that you

respect them, you value them, you believe in them

and they are important.   We want

each student to hear that loud and clear.
